The site consists of a 10,160.00 sq m plot located in Puerto Marquez, in the city of Acapulco, Mexico. It is immersed in a dense vegetation area, with a steep slope and direct access to the nearby beach village.
The concept consisted in making a boutique hotel that literally was born out of the jungle, adapting as much as possible to the topography and being condiderate as much as possible to it´s natural and cultural surroundings. The program consisted in 60 suites, hotel reception and lounge area, pool facilities, restaurants, spa and gym, through 9 levels, with an overall built area of 13,374.8 sq m.
To achieve this immersion, we contemplated that each one of the rooms was surrounded by pure vegetation, creating a kind of private jungle, to which the room could close or open, according to it´s user needs.
The architectural language tried to incorporate not only the strength of the natural environment, but also the cultural environment. This is why we incorporated a vernacular/contemporary language, that is sensitive both to the local community and to the end user. We crowned the top of the building with a clean white orthogonal volume, reminiscent of the tropical modern architecture of the 1960’s.
The program consists in the following:
Ground floor:
Pools, esplanade, bathrooms, cellars and machine room.
1st level to 6th level:
Suits with private jungles.
7 Level:
Spa, dining for staff, service bathrooms, general cellars, cold room, engine room and rubbish area.
8 Level:
Administration, lobby, lounge area with bonfires, bar, bathrooms and cellar.
9 Level:
Pool, restaurant and bathrooms.
